Product Description:
The TM74HC138 is a high-speed CMOS 3-to-8 line decoder IC, designed with compatibility for low-power Schottky TTL (LSTTL) devices. This IC features three address data inputs (A0, A1, A2) and eight active-low decoder outputs (Y0 – Y7). It also has three enable control inputs (E1, E2, E3). When E1 and E2 are low and E3 is high, the decoder outputs are activated. If these conditions are not met, the decoder outputs are held high.
The TM74HC138 is primarily used in applications requiring a 3-to-8 line decoder with a single address input. It can also be expanded to a 4-to-16 line decoder by connecting two TM74HC138s in series. The unused enable inputs should be set to the active state to ensure proper decoding.
This versatile IC is ideal for use in digital circuits where decoding functions are required.
