The TPS5430 / TPS5431 from Texas Instruments (TI) is a high-performance step-down (buck) PWM converter with integrated low Rds(on) high-side N-channel MOSFET. This IC provides up to 3A continuous (4A peak) output current and achieves up to 95% efficiency, making it ideal for power supply designs requiring high current, wide input voltage range, and fast transient response.
Equipped with an internal voltage error amplifier, undervoltage lockout, soft-start circuitry, and voltage feed-forward control, the TPS543x ensures reliable operation under a wide range of conditions. It supports wide input voltages:
-
TPS5430: 5.5V to 36V
-
TPS5431: 5.5V to 23V
The device is internally compensated to reduce external component count and simplify design. Additional features include:
-
Adjustable output voltage: as low as 1.22V
-
Fixed 500kHz switching frequency
-
Built-in protections: Overcurrent, Overvoltage, Thermal shutdown
-
Shutdown current: as low as 15μA using ENA pin
The TPS543x series comes in a compact, thermally enhanced 8-pin SOIC PowerPAD™ package, supporting operation from –40°C to 125°C junction temperature range. TI offers reference designs and WEBENCH® Power Designer tools to speed up prototyping and design cycles.
